All About The Centerpiece – Part 2

Hello to Part 2 of our “All About The Centerpiece” blog post (see part 1 here). Sorry for the delay – we announced this post a while ago – but (sigh), it’s that time of year when finding time to do anything is difficult: wedding planning and production is in full swing. But that’s probably the best time to shed some light on cost factors of various centerpiece styles. I hope you’ll find this blog post useful when planning for your special event.

Centerpieces come in all forms, shapes, and sizes. Pricing varies greatly and very much depends on your vision, your style preferences, your flower choices, the table size, and even the size of the ballroom. When designing a centerpiece we take all those factors into consideration: we try to create designs that meet your expectations and style choices AND are of a harmonious size relative to the width/size of the tables and the ceiling height of the ballroom. There is nothing more ‘blah’ than a centerpiece that is too small or too overpowering in it’s surrounding.

Let’s start by addressing cost of a low centerpiece for a regular dinner-sized table. Our low centerpieces are never taller than about 12″ (that’s below eye-level) to not block the view across the table. Here are a few fun examples – all ranging between $105 and $175 – with the sweet spot at right around $125. Floral density, container type, flower choices will all affect the price:

For large rooms with a tall ceiling we LOVE to incorporate at least a few tall/elevated centerpieces: they are visually pleasing and help “bring the ceiling down”. Our tall centerpieces are naturally more expensive: they range between $200 and $550 (and can go up from there). The reason is simply that we have to use a lot more floral to cover all that extra space on the sides and underneath – taller pieces can easily take three or four times as much floral than a low centerpiece. But look at the examples below, these tall designs can add so much Wow and drama to a room:

Note: One way you can recoup some of that extra cost and make your budget stretch is to use those centerpieces during your ceremony as well. Just like in the examples below you use the arrangements along the aisle and then we transfer them to tables afterward. This way you get to enjoy them twice!

Compote designs vary a lot too with $85 being on the basic smaller end, and $250 what you could expect to pay for a bigger arrangement with more floral. Our sweet spot is around $145. Another thing that effects price is greenery: flowers are always more expensive than greens, so if you’re an all-floral and no-greens type, expect to pay a little more for that look.

Composite style is a fun way to fill the space in the middle of the table with lots of different elements. We generally recommend three smaller vases – we call them “buddy” vases – of floral and lots of candles. We price these out per table (all the elements combined) rather than each piece individually. You can expect to pay $75 to $185 per table.

Table runners, either in form of floral or greenery or a mix of the two, can be a beautiful option, especially on long, rectangle banquet tables. Floral and greenery runners can be combined with centerpieces, or buddy/bud vases for a full and luxurious look. Or for a much more affordable option we can place loose greenery across the table with just some blooms tucked in. On the low end we would recommend at least $50 for greenery/blooms. On the high end it can be upwards of $350 for an all-floral look. Or quite a bit more like in the pictures of the head table below with white phaleanopsis! Super lux!

As you can see, there are many decorative options for every budget. We hope you found this article helpful. Let us know in the comments below if you have questions. Happy planning!

A Marshawn Lynch Gala at The Edgewater Hotel Seattle

Last December we had the honor and total pleasure of being part of the “Fam 1st Family” Foundation Gala. It’s co-founder and president Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch hosted this sports-star-studded event at The Edgewater Hotel last December. Team owner Paul Allen was in attendance, along with head coach Pete Carroll, football legend Joe Montana and former Sonics player Shawn Kemp. ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne acted as host, raising more than $325,000 for the organization, which uses athletics and education to empower at-risk youth across the nation. That is #beastmode at it’s finest!!

We designed all aspects of this event – linens, chairs, and centerpieces. The client wanted a warm, natural look that didn’t translate Christmas or Holiday since the event took place in the middle of December. So we ended up using lots of greens, succulents, natural foraged items, ferns, glassy baby candles … they were so pleased with the outcome!

It was a pleasure collaborating with Kelly O’Brien Events, California and working alongside Mat Hayward who was the lucky photographer onsite and who took these awesome photos of the evening. Thank you, Mat!!!

‘Tis The Season for Holiday Parties!

I can’t believe November is already half over! At this time of year we are in the middle of planning several fabulous holiday parties and holiday decor projects. And therefore there is no better time than to showcase some of the work we have done in previous years.
We love the holidays and with it all the sparkly, festive decor elements we get to play with! We will be covered in glitter for the coming 6-8 weeks but that is all part of the fun.

The below holiday projects each represent a different theme and ambiance we created for the client – please check it out and let us know what you think.

Beautiful Vintage Party Flowers for the Bachelorette

Last month we had the pleasure to work for Desiree Hartsock‘s and Chris Siegfried’s engagement party at DeLille Cellars. You might remember the two from their season on ABC’s The Bachelorette.

We created lush, vintage floral pieces for the long dinner tables paired with lots of candles, mercury glass vessels, beautiful lace linens, romantic stationary, and vintage dish and glassware. The room could have not been any more romantic!
The event was produced by Jocelyn Cates of Capstory and photographed by Carla Ten Eyck.

We even got a full feature on Desiree’s wedding blog today called Vintage Flowers!

Elegant Winter Wonderland Holiday Party

Today I want to share some fabulous pictures of a corporate holiday party we had the pleasure to work on last year. We transformed the ballroom of the Grand Hyatt in Bellevue into a wonderful sparkly winter wonderland featuring icy branches, snow cones, white and blue floral, luxury linens, fabulous lighting, silk draping, and lots of warm candle light.

Flawlessly coordinated by Megan Keller from A Kurant Event this was a party for 300 guests to be remembered. Together with Megan we designed the overall concept with a stunning atmosphere: silk drapes, tall and low centerpieces of various heights and styles, lush table linens by Choice Linens, chair covers by Swank, cool room lighting by Austin Beaver. So fun!!

Hopefully these images can be a source of inspiration for YOUR upcoming holiday party. Please contact us if you need assistance in designing and decorating your party – we would be more than happy to help!
Thank you to the always fabulous Barbie Hull for the truly beautiful images!!

In the lobby we created a silk-draped “grand entrance” which greeted the guests to the pre-cocktail party and a fun photo booth.
The winter arrangement below was a massive 12 feet tall!
For the ~30 dinner tables we designed fun winter designs of 5 different styles: some tall and lush, some break-away featuring branches, floral, and sparkly spheres, and some other with clusters of candles and ornaments.

Elegant Birthday Party at DeLille Cellars

Suzanne celebrated her 50th birthday last month in great style, at a super romantic location, and in company of extended family and closest friends. She chose beautiful taupe linens, chocolate Chivari chairs, and elegant flowers in pinks, purples, cream, and green. Lots and lots of candle light created a wonderful atmosphere – it could not get more romantic!

A Stylish Anniversary Party at The Four Seasons Seattle

I loved Tina right from the start! She has such a sweet personality, wonderful style, a great sense of humor, and is of Italian heritage – needless to say our meetings took a while longer than usual: we had so much fun talking, designing and styling her 25th anniversary party at the Four Seasons Hotel ballroom.
Tina and Kevin envisioned a party with closest friends and family (including of course the original wedding party of 10), with great food and drink, in a beautiful setting. No better place than the Four Seasons Hotel to achieve this goal!
Celebrating their “silver” anniversary, we wanted to incorporate lots of splashes of silver throughout the room. We brought in silver linens and chairs, used silver votive candles and chargers, and even sprinkled in some silver foliage in the floral center pieces. The room sure triggered a big WOW by many and in Tina’s words, we “could have not executed (her) vision more perfectly!”
But see for yourself! Thank you again Azzura, for the stunning images!

We designed a swank cocktail lounge as part of the ballroom, sectioning it off from the dinner area with sheer draped walls. To create a magical illusion of a true wall, the drapes were lit up with strong amber colored up-lighting cans. Large willow trees adorned with crystal strands “softened” to walls and brought texture into the ballroom. Lots of white leather couches with side tables invited the guest to a cocktail in comfort …

The wall up-lighting, lots of candles, and center piece up-lighting made the whole ballroom aglow in a warm light. It brought out the sparkle from the linens and the crystal strands – what a gorgeous atmosphere!!

For the centerpieces we used mainly lush garden roses, dahlias, hydrangea, orchids, and trailing amaranthus in shades of peach, green, and chocolate. Silver foliage complemented the color of the linens.

The wonderful couple Tina and Kevin!
