Reena and David – Colorful Indian Wedding at Seattle’s Edgewater Hotel

Flora Nova Design Seattle - Colorful Indian Wedding at the Edgewater Hotel. Dahlia Bouquet with Ribbon Streamers

Reena and David’s September wedding at Seattle’s Edgewater Hotel was a fabulous mix of Indian tradition with Northwest style, coordinated and planned by Natasha Larsen of The Invisible Hostess.  Beautiful turquoise, burnt orange, burgundy, coral, and gold shone against the Elliot Bay backdrop of one of our favorite waterfront venues.  Reena and David chose to incorporate soft garden touches in the Texas smilax and birch wood in their ceremony arch, as well as in the lush green of the raspberry foliage and maidenhair fern in the centerpieces and bouquets.  And bright summer dahlias were perfect with Reena and David’s color scheme – just look at how charming they are as garlands gracing the ceremony arch.

For the reception, Reena and David chose to incorporate antique books into their composite centerpieces, a whimsical touch alongside the burnished gold of the charger plates, urns, and candle holders.  The ceremony arch became a romantic backdrop for the couple’s sweetheart table, sparkling with a gold sequined linen and draped with greenery, roses, and dahlias. As you’ll see in the photos below, Erik and Marissa of Ciccarelli Photography captured these details beautifully.  It certainly was a magical event!

Amanda and Matthew – Luxurious Winter Wedding at the Edgewater Hotel

Flora Nova Design Seattle - Luxurious Winter Wedding at the Edgewater Hotel. White and Grey Bouquet

Amanda and Matthew had such a luxe winter wedding at the Edgewater Hotel last February. Amanda infused so much old school hollywood glamour to her beautiful wedding! The sophistication of every small detail leaves a lasting impression. The whole event had such a dreamy romantic winter feel to it!  Carina Skrobecki Photography really captured the mood perfectly; we couldn’t wait to show you these images.

Planning and designing Amanda and Matthew’s wedding was a true pleasure. The couple entrusted us to design their event from start to finish: from design concept, color palate, and the overall look and feel, to coordinating rentals such as chairs, linens, draping, lighting, and more. Truly a beautiful wedding!

We loved this wedding and Amanda & Matthew so much we hired Timekeeper Films to make a film about the design process, the setup, and the wedding day (with fun behind the scenes looks).  Watch it here:

Amy and Luke – Northwest Beauty

Amy and Luke’s wedding at The Edgewater Hotel last May was an elegant affair with a Northwest touch – beautifully photographed by Michèle M Waite.

I loved Amy’s approach to incorporate lots of ferns, succulents, and various greens to achieve a natural and organic vibe. Centerpieces were placed into wooden boxes, long tables were covered with burlap table runners, and the wooden vineyard chairs gave the whole room a rustic, yet warm and inviting feel. It was the perfect look for the Edgewater ballroom which incorporates the quintessence of Northwest decor. And to top it all off: it was a beautiful sunny day so the view across the sound was heavenly. Quite a treat for early May!

A Marshawn Lynch Gala at The Edgewater Hotel Seattle

Last December we had the honor and total pleasure of being part of the “Fam 1st Family” Foundation Gala. It’s co-founder and president Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch hosted this sports-star-studded event at The Edgewater Hotel last December. Team owner Paul Allen was in attendance, along with head coach Pete Carroll, football legend Joe Montana and former Sonics player Shawn Kemp. ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne acted as host, raising more than $325,000 for the organization, which uses athletics and education to empower at-risk youth across the nation. That is #beastmode at it’s finest!!

We designed all aspects of this event – linens, chairs, and centerpieces. The client wanted a warm, natural look that didn’t translate Christmas or Holiday since the event took place in the middle of December. So we ended up using lots of greens, succulents, natural foraged items, ferns, glassy baby candles … they were so pleased with the outcome!

It was a pleasure collaborating with Kelly O’Brien Events, California and working alongside Mat Hayward who was the lucky photographer onsite and who took these awesome photos of the evening. Thank you, Mat!!!

Vibrant Fall Wedding at the Edgewater Hotel Seattle

Has it been 2 months since my last blog post? Or three …? Well, too long for sure! It must have been a busy summer! Boy, oh boy, it was!

But I am finally back at it and I am so excited to share these gorgeous images of Martha & Maureen’s wonderful wedding reception last fall – photographed by the amazing Joann Aruda. The lovely couple had gotten married out of town a few months prior but finally wanted to celebrate with friends and family. And wow, did they celebrate in style! Look at those vibrant colors and unique designs they chose for their big party at The Edgewater Hotel last fall! The color combination and textures were so unique, though looked grand and elegant in this classic ballroom. What do you think?

Blush! The Wedding Color of the Year (Part 1)

Here is the first of several blog posts I will be publishing in the coming weeks: all of them with weddings from the past year featuring blush wedding flowers. “Blush” has been such a popular wedding color – it was huge last summer, and continues to be big this year.
I am starting the series with the fabulous wedding of Kalia and Rafael who tied the knot pretty much exactly one year ago at The Edgewater Hotel. It was such a wonderful wedding where two cultures fused into one – all so beautifully captured by the amazing Loren and Kim of Alante Photography.
Isn’t Kalia a stunning bride!

Intimate Edgewater Wedding

I just love, LOVE small, intimate, and luxurious weddings – like this one at the Edgewater Hotel for just eight guests.
Katy and Noah got married this past March in the small chapel of First Baptist Church in Seattle and had a wonderful dinner reception in the beautiful Forest Room at the Edgewater Hotel for just their closest family members. And they sure celebrated in style!
Patti, the bride’s mother living in Florida, contacted me last winter to help me design and decorate her daughters wedding. Patti’s decor inspiration was a purple bouquet she had seen in one of the Flora Nova web galleries – she had fallen in love with it’s colors (plum and green) and it’s style (lush and luxurious). We sure had a fun time coming up with all design elements and what started out as a grand vision, became a wonderful design plan.
Katy and Noah are both members of the military, and a little unexpected moment of surprise happened in February, when Patti called me that their wedding, which originally was scheduled for a date in May, needed to be moved to an earlier date in March, because Katy was redeployed and needed to start her training sooner than expected.
Fortunately the earlier date in March was still available and we switched gears to make it happen. And what a beautiful wedding it turned out to be!

Thank you Carol Harrold for these beautiful images!!
Katy’s bouquet consisted of calla lilies, orchids, tulips, roses, and green hypericum and berzillia berries

For the bride’s maids bouquets we used more green elements to make them ‘pop’ in front of their purple dresses

The small chapel at the Seattle First Baptist church is a perfect location for a small wedding ceremony like Katy and Noah’s

The pews in the chapel were decorated with tall hurricane candle stands and small bouquets in purple and green

We provided every element for this beautiful long reception table: from the gorgeous floral designs, to table linens, Chivari chairs, gold rimmed charger plates, dinner ware, goblets, napkins and napkin rings, candles, and chair sashes. The combination of purple and gold is timeless and so elegant!
To complete the look, we decorated the area around the fireplace and the window front with floral and candle designs – a nice addition to the overall decor.
